Happy New Year! We hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas! Our new topic for this term is ‘Space and Rockets’. We have started off our topic by introducing the children to ‘exploring’ space in their own rocket in the role play area. They have been dressing up as astronauts, flying to the moon and exploring planets. The children have already learnt facts about the moon and we have talked about the first man on the moon – Neil Armstrong. The children have also been learning how moon craters are formed and have had the opportunity to make their own craters by dropping ‘meteorites’ (stones) into sand. We look forward to learning lots more about space, planets, rockets and astronauts over the coming weeks.
NB – Tim Peakes’ Space capsule is still being exhibited at Shildon Railway Museum until 15th Jan. It makes a very interesting trip if you have the opportunity to visit!!
