Snow day at YPS!

Posted in Uncategorised           No Comments »

What a lovely day today – by staggering playtimes, year groups had space to enjoy the snow before getting back to some great learning in classrooms.

We held our celebration assembly – congratulations to Mr Hunter’s class for winning the amazing progress in Reading trophy and to Neve for the attendance award.

Thank you to all staff who worked hard to ensure our site was accessible and safe for us all.

Hope you all have a good evening keeping cosy and warm!

THANK YOU to the PTA for organising our New Year Disco.

We really appreciate your hard work.

It has been really well attended – with lots of cool dancing and people dressed in their new year sparkle.

Happy New Term!

Welcome back,

It was great to see everyone back in school today – well almost…

…there are still some people with the ‘tail end’ of our chicken pox outbreak AND a few people who have had flu over Christmas.
We can’t wait to see you all back fit and well.

Tomorrow in assembly, we will be congratulating those people who have 100% attendance and setting targets for the coming term.

We also have SHINE to look forward to next week, when classes will be reflecting on how well they have reached their targets from last term and aiming high this half term.

Let’s do great things Team Yarm!

Merry Christmas!

Christmas Jumper day today raised £262.05; which when added to your generous contributions at the end of the Christmas concerts last week means that a total of £923.05 will be sent to our chosen charity Save the Children in the new year. Thank you for this magnificent effort.

Thank you to School Council – who performed their Nativity for us this afternoon – you really are making a ‘starfish difference’ and we are very proud of you.

Congratulations also to Thomas, who was recognised for his caring attitude to others, especially the younger pupils at Breakfast Club – you are a great role model.

Modesty prevents my partner Suzannah and I from revealing the winners of the Y6 Quiz, which also took place this afternoon – Thank you to everyone who took part!

It’s been a VERY busy time in school over the past two weeks – well done to everyone for making Yarm Primary such a welcoming and caring place to be.

I wish you all a very merry Christmas and peaceful New Year.

What a day!

What a lovely day at YPS!

This morning  Craft Club met for a session to wrap up all the presents they have made over the term, to take home for their families. It’s been a new venture and has been really successful this term – well done to our crafters – ‘keep crafting!’

Then a meeting with School Council to prepare for the nativity tomorrow.

A busy lunchtime ( including Secret Santa ) and then I had the chance to bring my fairy costume out of the wardrobe, for the staff panto.

The children joined in with gusto and the staff who took part did so too – a BIG thank you.

Then the after school club Christmas party, with my favourite – a disco bouncy castle  – great fun had by all from 3 – 11 years.

THEN our Oasis gang reunion – our oldest members are now young men of 15 years and a pleasure to spend time with. One of them asked me what it was like running such a big family as our school – well it’s a privilege.

Thanks to the team of staff who support our ‘family’ so well.

So it’s been a really long and really lovely day.

Merry Christmas to our YPS family.

Christmas lunch …

Thank you to our cook, Dawn and her kitchen team who catered for us on Monday – A super Christmas dinner day.  The quality of the food reflected the weekend that Dawn had spent in school preparing the festive meal.

The PTA provided crackers, with some party hats lasting the whole afternoon! The children really enjoyed their cracker treats and ‘awful’ jokes!

Lunchtime and kitchen staff had the chance for a well deserved rest at the end of service, when they had their meal – we are lucky to have such a great team.

Christmas crackers!

Congratulations to our amazing children who performed so well across the 7 Christmas shows last week.

Thank you to the staff who supported the children to shine and to the visiting audiences. It occurred to me as I looked at so many familiar faces, that there were many who had performed as shepherds and angels and donkeys on the very same stage, when they were small – a real circle of life!

We hope to see lots of our families at the Sing-a-long on Tuesday.

Merry Christmas.

Decorating the tree

Posted in Uncategorised           No Comments »

Yesterday after school we held our annual decorating the tree event.

Thanks to School Council representatives who set up the craft activities and to families who came along with their beautiful decorations.

The orchestra from Conyers with Mr Thompson made it even more special (especially with so many familiar faces – ex-pupils).

Thank you to everyone for helping us make a great start to the festive season.

Tree lighting

Posted in Uncategorised           No Comments »

Mrs B & I have been in the High St. today, to add our decorations to the other local schools, around the Christmas Tree.

We think they look lovely!

A group of Y6 pupils will be representing the school on Sunday at the tree lighting, along with pupils from local schools, to really get us in the festive spirit. Why not join us from 3.00pm?

AND come along to our school tree decorating on Monday – from 3.30pm.

The tree  is a lovely one this year but is looking very bare at the moment – we would love to have your home made decorations to put on it.

Looking forward to seeing you soon.

Our BIG Draw displays are now complete – can you see your brilliant pot or plate?

Take a look in the main hall and find yours…

Well done everyone.
