Our new School Council hosted a tea party for the new Reception cohort this afternoon.

It was lovely to see the group welcoming our new children and their families into the hall to meet with their teachers and have a snapshot of what has been happening in school; since the start of term.

Thank you children for your great contribution.

I enjoyed my cake too!

Hello to all our returning families and welcome to our new ones.

It was lovely yesterday to see the ‘sea of blue’ in front of me in assembly – lots of new haircuts, uniforms and smiling faces.

We have an exciting, challenging year ahead – lots to learn for all of us.

End of a super year !

Well – the end of term seemed to speed towards us, as we were very busy ; with a packed out of school programme and transition – and then it was upon us.

We had an emotional whole school assembly on Friday morning – saying ‘Goodbye’ to children and some staff – moving on to new adventures. It was our big SHINE awards assembly, when all staff make an award to children across school and we also thank School Council for their contributions to school life, over the year. The singing group sang their Superheroes song and the proceedings were brought to a close with our leavers singing their new song, Colours, with some very poignant lyrics. Thank you to Mr Newton for this …

The Year 6 cohort, who have been a great team, have left us with some very lovely words and generous gifts, by which we have been very touched…

Have a great summer and whatever your challenge in September GO FOR IT !

Yarm High St….

Thank you to the children and parents who supported the Yarm WW1 commemoration committee event today on the High St.

The Y5 group who presented their interpretation of a munitions factory and the Y6 group who developed their own story line around a field hospital – both did really well and certainly looked the part!

Well done to you all.

It was lovely to see Richard & Jan, who had told us all about food in WW1 at their stall sharing their expertise with everyone.

Gig on the Green …

After an unpromising wet morning, the weather brightened as our children took to the stage – once more opening Scorton annual ‘Gig on the Green’.

Well done to all the YP Nation who took part and to Mr Newton for his dedication in giving this group such great experiences.

It’s been a couple of really busy, exciting and rewarding days – with the Year 6’s performing their show for the school community, family and friends.

They have done 3 shows and have their final one tomorrow evening.

Congratulations to all the performers and Thank You to everyone who has helped to make this such a memorable production – with singing, dancing, acting, amazing costumes, scenery and props and great sound  quality – all of which have needed staff to give their time and skills  – WHAT A TEAM!!!

It’s all quiet at the Year 2 camp out, after a fun packed evening.

The bouncy castle arrives shortly and breakfast is ready – we can see the sun coming up and look forward to a super morning.

Y6 …

Lots of our Year 6 pupils have been test driving their new leavers tops today.

They look great ( despite not being our lovely Yarm Primary blue !) and are a visual reminder that they will be leaving us shortly to move on to pastures new….

On Saturday we held our Festival on the Field – it was fantastic to see so many members of our school community coming together to enjoy the live music. Many thanks to the PTA, school staff and children for their hard work in putting this event together and of course to the musicians for sharing their enthusiasm & talents.

As one parent said to me, ‘Who needs Glastonsbury?’!!!

Hope to see you all again next year.

The sun shone down on our sculpture event today.

Thank you to everyone  who came along, including the Mayor, Mayoress and Chair of Governors ; especially if you contributed to our goals community sculpture – it’s not too late – do it in the morning…

Well done to all classes, who produced such a wide range of sculptures and to the representatives who explained the inspiration and process they had gone through.

School council launched their castle and den building area – a project supported by the PTA ( THANK YOU ) – It has been a pleasure to work with this group this year and what a good job they’ve done on this project.
