Remembrance…

Thank you to those members of School Council, who represented the school so well today, in church and then at the cenotaph.

The messages throughout the morning echoed those from our recent assemblies, with a focus on peace.

I hope that you have managed a moment of reflection today…

Our BIG Draw

Posted in Uncategorised           No Comments »

Well done to everyone who produced some fabulous art this evening as part of our BIG Draw – this year based on the work of Patrick Caulfield.

It’s always lovely to welcome families into school to produce something together.

I can’t wait to add your work to our display ( it will take a while for some contributions to dry !) – it will make it super shiny ( there was no glitter left at the end of the night!)…

Look out for the date for our next crafting event – making Christmas decorations.

Beauty & the Beast

Posted in Uncategorised           No Comments »

What a treat today for our years 2,5 & 6 who went to the theatre to see the stage version of Beauty & the Beast.

What was even more of a thrill was that the performers were from our local secondary school – Conyers – and many of them are past pupils – including Belle!

Congratulations to all involved.

We remember…

Posted in Uncategorised           No Comments »

We were delighted to be approached by the Royal British Legion to be part of a local project with a focus on Remembrance Sunday.

A talented young artist – Helena Cooling – designed and produced a sculpture.

We have been asked to add to this; and our combined efforts will be at the cenotaph over the remembrance weekend (11th/12th November).

Mr G. & I launched the project with the children this week in assembly, and there is a high level of excitement about being involved.

This is how the sculpture looked on Wednesday – watch this space for an update…

Congratulations to Year 6, following your successful Fairground Exhibition yesterday.

The smell of burning popcorn (!) could not mar the enjoyment the visitors had in seeing all your hard work.

I am not sure I am dare devil enough to take a ride on all your designs however I was very impressed by the level of teamwork and attention to detail in making your rides so dynamic…

You should be very proud.

Everybody dance now!

Posted in Uncategorised           No Comments »

All our children from EY2 right through to Y6 have been involved in dance workshops over the past two days.

It has been lovely to see and hear the excitement generated around school through Diwali dancing.

Thank you to Mr Smith for organising this.

Well done to Y1LP for having a great 100% attendance last week.

Y3SW/SH had the tidiest classroom/cloakroom and we thanked the Y6 library group for making a starfish difference in our Y4 library area.

Mr Smurthwaite asked that his class could be celebrated in assembly, as he was so very proud of their behaviour ( including great determination and enthusiasm) during their swimming sessions.

I am looking forward to our first SHINE assembly of the academic year  , this week. We will be finding out about each class and how they are shining AND what they will be working on next half term – and awarding the SHINE class trophy – watch this space!
