All children in Reception, Year 1 and year 2 are eligible for free school meals.

Did you know … just registering your child for Free School Meals means that the school gets extra money? The Government gives money to schools to help children from lower income families do their very best. This funding is called a ‘Pupil Premium’ and is a key formula used to calculate how much we receive into our budget. Some schools within our area receive upwards of a quarter of a million pounds additionally into their budget every year. At Yarm Primary the most we have ever generated is a little over £50,000 – clearly every person registered helps! With this money we could provide resources, both inside and outside the school day to support pupils. If you are registered for Free School Meals you could also get help with the costs of school trips and uniform.

Due to the introduction of the ‘universal free school meals for infants’ scheme, our already small cohort has reduced further which means less money in our budget.

We would like you consider if you may be eligible and even if you do not intend for your child to have a school meal OR they are currently receiving a free meal as they are in reception or key stage 1, please apply…

The extra funds can make a significant difference to our school and the things that we can offer the children.
