The aim of this week's Year 5 Science lesson was not how fast can an object fall fall but how slow... Why? Because we were studying air resistance and how it can be useful in situations such as slowing down the fall of a parachutist.
The children looked at the effects of air resistance on parachutes of different materials such as foil and plastic. Working in groups, they successfully made and flew their parachutes and then decided on the one which took the most time to fall to the ground.
A fun and collaborative afternoon was had by all!
