This week the children have been continuing their learning about Autumn. They have had the opportunity to explore pumpkins and find out what is inside. They found lots of seeds and they had fun using spoons and tweezers to pick the seeds up and put them into bowls. A couple of weeks ago the children learned that fruit have seeds and vegetables do not, and so they remembered this and came to the conclusion that a pumpkin was a fruit.
The children have also been practising their writing and drawing skills using the large interactive computer screen by drawing an autumn picture using a drawing computer software program. They also learned how to open the program, print out their work and clear the screen.
Our number of the week this week is number 7 and the children have been working on comparing amounts using the language more, less and the same. Their challenge was to put more / less / the same spikes on their hedgehog than the number of spikes which Mrs Parkes’ hedgehog had. They had to look carefully and also think about which numbers are smaller or bigger than others.
