Welcome back to our new term and to our new topic of ‘Amazing Animals’ where we will be exploring animals that live on the ice, their environments and how they can adapt to live and survive in cold climates.

We have already made a start by getting dressed up warmly and going on an Arctic Adventure where we learned all about the Arctic regions, the weather, and the animals which live there.  Can your child remember what it looks like there?  Are there any plants or trees? Do many people live there?

We have learned many facts about Polar Bears and Penguins and discovered that Penguins live in the Antarctic at the South Pole where Polar Bears live in the Arctic at the North Pole but their environments are very similar.

The children have been painting their favourite ice animal where they looked very closely at its shape and colour.  In Maths they used penguins to measure objects working on vocabulary ‘taller’ / ‘shorter’ and had fun putting the penguins in the correct order from the tallest to the shortest.

This week we will open our fabulous ‘Ice Cave’ role play where the children can be explorers and have some fantastic Arctic Adventures!
