Welcome back to all our Nursery children and a big hello to our new starters.
Our new topic, ‘In the Garden’ has got our Nursery children thinking about what we might find in a garden. We came up with a long list that included:
Butterflies, ladybirds, trees, flowers, hedgehogs and even trampolines!
We thought about where plants and flowers come from and planted our very own seeds.
In Literacy we came up with a list of Nursery’s favourite superfoods (super because they are so good for us and we can grow them in our gardens). Then we introduced our storybook, Supertato, using the front cover to predict what the story might be about.
In Phonics, our sound of the week is N and we’ve been practising recognising initial sounds in words and talking like Metal Mike, e.g. c-a-t
We’ve been busy in Maths focusing on our numbers of the week 3 and 14. We’ve also been using the language of quantity when looking at seeds e.g. more/fewer. As well as estimating then checking the number of seeds by counting.
