Fitting in nicely with our topic of People Who Help us, Nursery have been learning about who can help us to cross a road during our road safety week this week.  The children have learned all about the job of “lolly pop ladies and lolly pop men.” They have also learned about other things that are available to help us to cross a busy road to keep ourselves safe – zebra crossings, pelican crossings, subways and bridges. The children have learned about the green cross code and know that they must find a safe place to cross, stop, look and listen, hold a grown ups hand and walk across the road. They have been practicing in the classroom with our zebra crossing mat. The children have also learned about traffic lights and what the different colours mean. They made traffic light biscuits using cherries, apricots and grapes to represent the coloured lights. They had to remember to put them in the correct order on the biscuit.
