Following on from the fabulous Reading initiatives this term, this afternoon we linked a book sale in with pancake day!
Thank you to Mrs Besterfield and School Council for making this such a success – and we’ll have even more funds to spend on our new books – Brilliant!

Welcome back!
It has been a fantastic start to the new term with lots of activity and new learning.
We are welcoming some new families and pupils and looking forward to getting to know them.

Today we welcomed Dr. Paul Williams MP into school to support our work on democracy and British values. As our local MP, the children in Y6 had been keen to meet him and deepen their understanding (at this very busy time in politics!) of local, national and international issues from a politicians…

Year 6 have been deepening their knowledge of WW2 by making authentic recipes from the period as part of looking at Christmas on the home front. Our great cook Dawn helped everyone get involved and used our local historian friends Jan & Richards recipes for Christmas pudding, cake and ration buns.…

Ofsted – well done to everyone for showing how well ‘Team Yarm’ is doing.

Rose Wylie
Our inspiration for this years BIG Draw was the artist Rose Wylie – who really likes to have fun with scale and colour.
Well done to everyone who contributed by adding great marks to their year group pieces.

Doves for Peace
Some of our pupils worked with Miss Gill ( sponsored by the Yarm 1914 committee ) to make some beautiful dove models.
These will be used as lights at this years commemmorations on Remembrance Sunday next month at the war memorial.

Merry Christmas comes early!!
We were invited by our local MP Dr Williams to enter his Christmas card competition.
What brilliant contributions everyone made ( which we’ll get the chance to see in school in December) and Congratulations to the children whose cards will be posted off tomorrow for consideration.

Thank you to Miss Hutchinson & Our school cook Dawn, for enabling our students to enter a national sausage competition – to design and name a sausage.
Children had a selection to choose from, including vegetarian and halal, before inventing their own tasty banger!!!!

CRAFT CLUB!
A highlight of my week is Craft Club!
Our theme this term has been superheroes – and we have made masks, hats and models ( for animations). We are currently working on puppets and should have our people-sized capes ready for the festive season…
